Optimizing a Microbial Platform to Break Down and Valorize Waste Plastic

ABOUT US 

In an effort to reach zero plastic waste in Canada by 2030, our research program will focus on the development of novel microbiological technology to support breakdown of plastic waste into marketable recycled products. This work will support diversion of plastics away from landfills, which will save Canada over $500 million/year and create 40 000 jobs in the clean technology industry. The major impact of this work will be in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions globally.

SYMPOSIUM

Our annual symposium supports knowledge mobilization. This event brings together HQP’s, researchers, policy makers, and industry. These symposiums enhance HQP’s communication skills through providing them an opportunity to present their research at poster and oral presentation sessions. During the symposium we also host  professional and technical skills development workshops, and networking events. 

OUTREACH

We host enhanced outreach programs including, educational workshops for elementary and high school students, academia, industry, policy makers, and the public at large.
